The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) is this year celebrating its 60th year in operation.
We are proud to have reached this significant milestone, but we know that we couldn’t have made it this far without you‒ our treasured friends and partners.
Our success to date is in no small part due to the tireless work of our employees who have given their time, energy and expertise to the many committees, working groups, task forces, initiatives and activities driven by our mandate. I sincerely thank our management and staff, past and present, for their vital role in helping the BIDC to fulfil its objectives and for upholding the principles and high standards we hold dear.
To our Board of Directors, Minister of Industry International Business Commerce and Small Business Development, other Ministry and government officials, both past and present, I extend appreciation for your guidance and support through the years. I pay special tribute to the pioneering generation of BIDC Ministers, Board members and employees who laid the foundation for our presence in Barbados and beyond. You are all an important part of the BIDC family, which now spreads across the globe. I thank each of you for your contribution over the past 60 years and for making the BIDC the dynamic organisation it is today.
Since our founding as a business development agency in 1956, we have built a reputation among our clientele for high quality business coaching and reliability. We were able to achieve this by harnessing the unique and limitless power of creativity and collaboration that exists among our industry partners. Our business development officers are currently involved in several projects spanning various fields including manufacturing, animation, information communication and technology, fashion and apparel, health and wellness, food and beverages, and devote themselves every day to delivering the solutions that will help clients to achieve their goals.
Our aim is to provide flexible support and be actively engaged to continue to meet the needs of our clientele. And so in preparing for the future, we spent the past few weeks back in the classroom cultivating and training our employees so that each can improve their technical skills and capabilities for enhanced service delivery. We will continue to challenge ourselves and augment our programmes of assistance in fulfillment of our role and responsibilities as a developmental agency.
On behalf of my colleagues, I commend all who have helped the BIDC to reach this important anniversary and look forward to sharing this and every other celebratory moment with you.
