Information Services

BIDC Design has developed an information service for designers, craftsmen, manufacturers, educators and the public.  This resource is housed in the BIDC Library and consists of books, magazines, periodicals, journals and audio visual materials on many aspects of technology and design.  In addition, the public can also access a register of local designers whose expertise BIDC Design recommends to industry.

BIDC Design is committed to improving the public’s awareness of design.  As consumers become more sophisticated they demand better designed products.  If manufacturers and retailers are to meet this demand they must be familiar with customers’ expectations.  Through the media, exhibitions, and other promotional vehicles, BIDC Design strives to educate the manufacturers and consumers about the value of good design.

BIDC Design also collaborates with other developmental agencies, the private sector and educational institutions.  We have been affiliated with Caribbean Craft Marketplace, BMEX, and assist the Barbados Community College in offering courses such as Professional Design Practice.
